Re-Ment ~ Rilakkuma Kotatsu!

Happy New Year! I hope 2015 will be an awesome year for The Miniature Corner! Let's check out more miniatures together :)

I couldn't find a New Year themed Re-Ment set, so I went with this cute little table that is perfect for winter!

This Re-Ment furniture is a kotatsu featuring Rilakkuma. This set was released on Jan. 13, 2014.

From Wikipedia:
kotatsu is a low, wooden table frame covered by a futon, or heavy blanket, upon which a table top sits. Underneath is a heat source, often built into the table itself. Kotatsu are used almost exclusively in Japan, although similar devices are used elsewhere.
That is such an interesting concept to keep your foods warm in the winter!

This set comes with a top plate, the body of the table, four table legs, two cushions and the blanket.

It is so detailed that even the heating element is included under the table!

Being Rilakkuma themed, the blanket has Rilakkuma motifs printed all over it. Even cooler, the blanket is reversible so there are two colours for you to choose from!

Oh how cosy it is to sit at a heated table to enjoy your favourite winter foods!

The table is meant to display all the other Rilakkuma Re-Ment sets. It would be perfect for dolls too!

You can also omit the blanket and use it as a regular table for your Re-Ment displays! The picture shows the Rilakkuma Homemade Cooking set, which I have previously featured here.

I was browsing on the Internet and here's a real-life Rilakkuma kotatsu!

Now that would be a very useful piece of furniture for the winter!

What Re-Ment set would you display on your kotatsu? :)

San-X ~ Sumikko Gurashi Blind Boxes!

Hope everyone's Christmas was filled with good food and company! Are you ready for the new year?

I have been waiting for the longest time to feature this set of blind boxes!

This character was first release by San-X (the same creator as Rilakkuma) in April, 2013, and it actually comprises several different characters.

From left to right is Shirokuma (White Bear), Neko (Cat), Tonkatsu (Pork Chop), Penguin? (he doesn't know if he's a penguin or not). They are shy little beings and enjoy living life in the corner, and "Sumikko Gurashi" translates to corner beings. They also have friends, namely Cloth, Tempura, Tapioca and Weed. They are just so adorable and I just want to cuddle with them!

This blind box set was released in March, 2014, and I love how they have little rooms for each of the characters and their friends!

This is one set I really, really wanted to own (then again, I say this for nearly every set I feature on this blog!), but there was no way I could purchase and ensure a full set.

I know some people who buy an entire box in hopes of the full set, but I had no access to an entire box even if I could afford it. I didn't buy a single one; I didn't want just ONE of them, I wanted ALL of them!

Here's a quick look at them! I love how the cubes can be stacked up!

Here's all of them in one picture. I could not find better photos so this will do!

#1 ~ Shirokuma and Cloth (luggage) friend
#2 ~ Penguin? and  Tapioca friend
#3 ~ Tonkatsu and Tempura friend
#4 ~ Neko and Weed friend

And here's all of them settled in the corner of a living room! Aren't they cute! I'm not sure if San-X sells this set-up but I would LOVE to own it and display the little figures like that! Look at those little cushions!!!

This is not a Re-Ment set but I still love it and it sure deserves a feature on this miniature blog!

See you in the new year with more miniatures!

Re-Ment ~ Disney Christmas Cookies!

We are just under a week away from Christmas! Have you gotten all your presents ready? Is your Christmas dinner all planned?

This Re-Ment set is not the usual miniature food usually featured, but since it's the holiday season, I thought this set of cute Disney Christmas cookies would be perfect for this time of the year!

This Re-Ment set was released on Nov. 1, 2010, and it features assorted Disney characters in 12 different cookie shapes! Let's take a look at each of them!

#1 ~ Mickey in a Christmas Suit

Love the little green bow and his little Santa hat!

#2 ~ Minnie in a Christmas Dress

The little green pom poms on her dress are so cute!

#3 ~ Winnie the Pooh in a Sweater

Look at the stars on his Christmas sweater!

#4 ~ Stitch with a Candy Cane Scarf

Love his candy cane scarf! Did you notice that he has a Christmas tree hat?

#5 ~ Miss Bunny with a Christmas cape

I honestly had no idea what character this was and I had to look it up.. But her pink bow is pretty!

#6 ~ Cheshire Cat with Candy Cane Scarf

I love how they even included his signature stripes!

#7 ~ Snowman Mickey

He's so round and cute!!!

#8 ~ Mickey & Minnie on a Tree

I love the Mickey and Minnie cookie ornaments on the tree! Not forgetting the Mickey "star" on the top!

#9 ~ Chip and Dale in a stocking

Love this one! So festive!

#10 ~ Minnie Wreath

Minnie looks so cute in a Christmas wreath!

#11 ~ Winnie the Pooh on a Sleigh

He sure looks like he's having fun on the sleigh~ Where's his buddy Piglet?

#12 ~ Pluto as Rudolph

I think Pluto is trying to be a reindeer here! Pretty cute!

Here's the entire collection at a glance!

I must say, this is a bit different from the usual miniatures I look at on this blog, but it was pretty fun! The artistic style is very unique and most of the pieces are quite detailed, even though the cookie part is pretty big.

My favourite one is the Minnie Christmas wreath! I think I am becoming more of a Minnie Mouse fan lately, even though my all-time favourite Disney character is Winnie the Pooh!
'
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and remember to eat lots of yummy treats!

Re-Ment ~ Hello Kitty Sushi Bar!

Is Hello Kitty a cat or a little girl? Whatever she is, she has taken the world by storm in the past 40 years! She is a Sanrio character, and she is popular in Japan and many other countries around the world!

In this Re-Ment set, Hello Kitty becomes a sushi master with her own little conveyor belt sushi bar! Isn't her headband adorable? This set was released on April 18, 2011.

This set is very special since it comes with "furniture," a six-piece round sushi bar that fits together in a circle! It would be pretty difficult not to buy the full set!

You can see how Hello Kitty stands in the middle of the sushi bar with all the plates of sushi surrounding her!

Conveyor belt (or rotation) sushi is popular in Japan, where customers sit in front of the belt. Plates of food go round and round and you just pick up whatever catches your eye! The bill is calculated by the number of plates and the types of sushi consumed.

In this blog post, I will also attempt to name as many sushi as I possibly can, with the help of Google, of course! I apologize in advance if I make any mistakes!

Let's take a close look at all the details in this Re-Ment set! There are six parts to this collection.

#1 ~ Hello Kitty Sushi Chef, Shop Sign, Ebi Nigiri, Egg Rolled Sushi

What better way to start off this sushi bar set than Hello Kitty the sushi master herself! She looks so adorable in her little sushi chef costume! and the sign to her sushi bar is so cute! Her first creations are ebi (shrimp) nigiri and egg-rolled sushi!

I cannot get over how detailed the sushi are! Her little signature bow on the tails of the shrimp, and the little seaweed Hello Kitty face in the middle of the roll! Oh I love this set already!

#2 ~ Wooden Signs, Sushi with Toppings, Teapot

Those three wooden signs placed on a fan might be items on the menu, I think? They look so adorable with Hello Kitty on it!

And the three pieces of sushi with Hello Kitty's face on the seaweed are so detailed! Got to love the little wooden platter they are sitting on! I think the toppings are different variations of tobiko (roe/fish eggs).. But I can't tell what the one on the right is..

The little dish for putting soy sauce is cute! But why isn't there a teacup (in the entire Re-Ment set) to match the teapot? I'm disappointed with that part~ Nonetheless, the teapot has pretty flower patterns on it with a Hello Kitty head topper!

#3 ~ Ika Nigiri, Sushi in Egg Suit, Sashimi Bucket

In the third set, two cute pieces of Hello Kitty sushi are presented on some elegant dishes! There are four special plates in this collection and the other two are in #1 above! Love the little round Hello Kitty rice ball wrapped snugly in an egg suit! The white sushi looks like a piece of ika (squid) nigiri! I love the little wooden bucket that holds the sashimi, complete with a mini pair of tongs!

#4 ~ Maguro Nigiri, Menu, Miso Soup

The red fish on the blue plate looks like a piece of maguro (tuna). The Hello Kitty shaped menu is perfect for your to see what else is available on the menu besides all the rotating plates of sushi before your eyes! Sushi is often consumed with a side of miso soup, which is a warm broth made with fish stock and bean paste!

#5 ~ Chawanmushi, Apple-Shaped Sushi, Dessert

In the little cup shaped like an apple is some piping hot chawanmushi, a savoury steamed egg custard that often contains mushrooms and shrimp! The two little apple-shaped sushi is covered with thin slices of salmon and tuna and it looks so cute! Almost too cute to eat!

Dessert is served in a little black sundae cup with a dainty silver spoon! I wonder what it could be! My first thought was ice cream, but it could also be a pudding or meringue. Take your pick!

#6 ~ Assorted Sushi Bento Box

At the end of your meal, why not pack some food in a bento box for lunch the next day?

This bento (lunch box) contains a tamago (egg) nigiri, a piece of maki (sushi roll), a temaki (hand cone) and a piece of inari (tofu wrap) sushi. All with Hello Kitty features of course! There's even a tiny bottle of soy sauce and disposable chopsticks to complete your bento!

Here is an overview of everything! Sushi is my all-time favourite food and this Re-Ment set just makes me love it even more! I think my favourite item will have to be the bento box, since it has so many varieties of sushi!

Let me know if you like Hello Kitty and would like to see more Hello Kitty Re-Ment sets in the future!

Re-Ment ~ Kapibara-san Cafe!

Today's Re-Ment will feature Kapibara-san!

Who (what) is Kapi-barasan? Many people think this is a San-X character, but it is not! I think it originated from Japan and the character is described as a "calm and cuddly antidote" for people who feel lonely or burned out from everyday life, inspired by the real-life animal, the capybara.

Kapibara-san is featured in a cafe-themed Re-Ment and it's so whimsical! Such fun, bright colours and delicious food creations! This set was released Oct. 24, 2011.

There are five little Kapibara-san charms on ball chains in this Re-Ment collection, let's check it out!

I couldn't translate the Japanese words in the pictures, so I'm roughly guessing the food items! Let me know if I am totally off track here!

#1 - Double-Scoop Ice Cream Cone

That ice cream and waffle cone texture are so realistic! I love how Kapibara-san's face is made of chocolate on the vanilla (?) ice cream and there's a little chocolate (?) one on top! Not forgetting the little cherry spoon!

#2 - Pink Macaron with Chocolate Filling

Who doesn't love macarons, especially when it's shaped like Kapibara-san? I think this is strawberry flavoured with a chocolate filling.. Love the little biscuit and berry decoration on its head! The texturing of the macaron feet is impeccable!

#3 - Roll cake with chocolate cream

This roll cake has an interesting shape -- it's not round! Even the chocolate cream in the middle is shaped like Kapibara-san! And his little friend on top is so cute; it could be a mochi ball maybe?

#4 - Chocolate Cupcake

At first I thought this was another ice cream scoop but the texturing didn't quite look like ice cream.. Love the icing details on the cake! I don't know what's that apple-looking blob on top, it looks kind of weird.

#5 - Orange Macaron with Whipped Cream

I'm surprised they chose to repeat the same kind of pastry in a different colour! But it is still adorable! I just wished it would have been something different, like a cookie or something. Again, there is a little biscuit and berry decoration on its head!

Here are all of them in a row! I think I like the pink macaron best, and then the ice cream cone next! The pink ball chains look so cute too!

Not much is known about this Kapibara-san character, but I'm glad Re-Ment made this cafe collection!

See you next week! Any guesses what character it will be? Hint: It's a VERY popular character all around the world!

Nikki :)
